The Postmortem was a Blood fan website that covered Blood and its Cryptic Passage and Plasma Pak expansions, and also covered Blood II: The Chosen and its expansion The Nightmare Levels. It used to include notes on the story line, items, enemies and other general information about the Blood series, but towards the end of its life only contained incomplete information on certain topics. Subsequently all that remained active was its forums.
All texts on The Postmortem were non-free and as such no text from there is allowed to be copied to the Blood Wiki, save for fair use quotations.
In November of 2009 the website went down for a sustained period of time. On November 21, 2009 website representative Matthew "Daedalus" Kallis commented on the Transfusion Forums that "There is no need to be alarmed, as order has been restored... The main page had some edgenetwork issues and will be unavailable for some time still. Apologies for the system shock, as it was a rather nasty surprise to all of us."
Due to the administration being completely surprised by the server downtime, they were unprepared to put up the content pages on such short notice, but they confirmed they working on getting the site back up. As of May 30, 2011 some of the content had been recreated and the initial content infrastructure work appeared to have been completed, particularly in terms of listing various game statistics. However, the content pages again vanished in 2016. The forum itself vanished briefly in the spring of 2017, and did so again in early 2018 before coming back online during the summer. By fall 2018 however all the forums returned was a "connection timed out" message. Prominent member Daedulus established a brand new forum called Altar of Stone on March 10, 2019.
Daedolon finally revived the site once again on March 29, 2019.
"I was able to jump over the dozen of hurdles that were plaguing the site for years (stating that makes me very sad) and here we finally are; The Postmortem forums are finally back online, for good this time. There were a multitude of factors causing the downfall, including things like phpBB's inability to stay up with the times (with PHP specifically), a Linux distro going end-of-life, even the lack of information on server to server migration on my part, but most of all, it was down to my personal demovation with fighting over these issues for days to weeks on straight. It got to me. Regardless, here we are with a newly set up server and hopefully a more brighter future ahead of us. With the new dawn of Blood ahead of us, we are being gifted with things such as BloodGDX, NBlood and BloodEX. This is the pivotal moment in Blood's history. I want every one of us to be riding the tides together, not alone. I hope you will find it in you to forgive me for these past transgressions. All of the history we have shared on The Postmortem is safe here, from 2014 through today... into infinity." — Daedolon
As of late 2021, the site is again currently offline, though well archived via the Wayback Machine. The domain is currently listed as owned by namecheap.
