All of the numbered years (eg: 1997 or 2008) are set in the Common Era (CE).
1990s[edit]
1993[edit]
- March: Ken Silverman begins work on what becomes the Build engine, adopting sectors in June 1993 after phoning John Carmack.
- November: QStudios is founded by former Edmark programmers Nick Newhard and Peter Freese as "Apogee West".
- December 10: id Software releases the original Doom shareware, rapidly popularizing the first-person shooter and radically influencing the design of Blood.
1994[edit]
- QStudios restarts production of its initial fantasy design to begin work on "Horror 3D"; Kevin Kilstrom is hired in June.
- Ken Silverman finishes the first full release of Build for 3D Realms (Apogee); premièred in the game Witchhaven by Captsone Software.
- October: Monolith Productions is founded in Kirkland, Washington, United States of America. Among the founders are Brian Goble and Jason Hall.
1995[edit]
- Monolith Productions releases the "Monolith CD" for a Finnish demoscene contest.
- Interest from Microsoft's Alex St. John lands them the contract to produce the Windows 95 Game Sampler to demonstrate DirectX.
- May 2: Monolith releases the Compound demo for its RAGE (Raycasting Algorithmic Graphical Engine) engine.
- August: impressed by his Doom mapping, Scott Miller hires James Wilson III to map for Blood at Q Studios; replacing the previously transferred Richard Gray.
1996[edit]
- Eric Kohler joins Monolith to work on what was to become Shogo: Mobile Armour Division.
- Craig Hubbard, eventually to become the company's main designer, joins the company in a number of capacities.
- Mike Dussault comes on board to work on the Direct Engine.
- February 17: the date listed on what was later leaked by a computer repair technician as the "Blood Alpha".
- May: Duke Nukem 3D, the first proper Build engine game, is released by 3D Realms, which showcases many styles later apparent in Blood.
- June: weekly development updates for Blood appear on the 3D Realms website.
- July: QStudios moves offices into those set up by Monolith, beginning the merger of the two companies; Matt Saettler becomes Blood project manager, and Craig Hubbard joins as level designer.
- November: negotiations with GT Interactive begin for publishing Blood, with Rick Raymo as producer; relations with 3D Realms break down. Weekly updates move permanently to only the official Blood website in mid-December.
1997[edit]
- January 2: the development of Blood officially entered the beta stage.
- January 22: Monolith Productions announces its prior acquisition of QStudios and Blood and split with 3D Realms in favour of GT Interactive.
- March 4: Cryptic Passage, an authorized third party expansion pack for Blood, is announced by Sunstorm Interactive.
- March 7: the Blood shareware version is unleashed on the Blood website.
- May 29: the teaser version of Cryptic Passage is released featuring the level "Lost Monastery".
- May 31: the retail version of Blood is released in North America, with a European release on June 20.
- June: the now completed Blood is shown at E3 1997.
- June 30: Cryptic Passage is published by WizardWorks Software.
- July 12: the website Ivan's Blood Page was launched; last updated July 21.
- July 21: the site Steves Blood Cheats and Secrets is closed.
- October 15: Monolith Productions releases its own Plasma Pak expansion and upgrade for Blood.
- The "Jesters of Hell", a multiplayer BloodBath clan, was in operation.
- December 28: the website The Pit of Blood is last updated.
1998[edit]
- News of a sequel to Blood using the in-development LithTech engine is spread by Monolith Productions to the Blood fan community.
- Priest by Min-Woo Hyung, a manwha stated to be inspired by Blood, begins serialization in South Korea.
- January 22: "Evil Dwells Within", the first map attached to the Crudox Cruo: Fresh BLOOD! add-on project, is finished.
- January 29: last update to DMZGAMES BLOOD ZONE.
- February 1: Martin Brentnall finishes his three level Journey to Hell fan add-on.
- February: the famous Legend of Ravenloft trilogy of custom maps for Blood is begun by Michael Shire.
- February 2: The Blood Shack is first launched as a subsidiary of Voodoo Extreme to help promote Blood II.
- An interview with James Wilson III is also posted the same day on the newly launched Blood2.com, the predecessor to Planet Blood.
- March: an alpha of a Glide API patch for Blood is released.
- April: weekly updates and visions for Blood II begin being posted on the game's new official website until September 12th.
- May: LithTech takes on its final name over the "Direct" engine after Monolith splits with Microsoft; "Riot" becomes Shogo; Blood II was exhibited at E3 1998.
- May 11: the notoriously difficult Gods, the Epic Trilogy three level fan add-on for Blood was last modified by Joel and Kurt Blackwell.
- May 26: last known update about The 13th Realm semi-professional add-on project for Blood.
- Summer: range of dates for creation of the Blood Slaughter Files levels.
- July 1: the website Bloodlust is launched by Tjaiden; last updated on April 19, 1999.
- July 15: One Unit: Whole Blood is released.
- August 18: an MD2 model file (Quake II) for Caleb is released by Dennis "His Divine Shadow" Aspö and Mike McMillen.
- September 30: Shogo: Mobile Armour Division, the first LithTech engine powered game is released by Monolith.
- October 21: final update to Zaphod's Blood Page.
- October 31: the Blood II: The Chosen demo is released, with retail releases starting on November 20 after going gold on November 6th.
- November 9: last update for the first large fan add-on for Blood, known as Banzai's Add-On or Caleb's Revenge.
- November: "Loki" Blackman begins work on a sadly never completed Linux port of LithTech, as well as Shogo and Blood II.
1999[edit]
- MAIM and Phalanx Software's Blood 2: Resurrection are under development from The Blood Shack.
- January: beta footage for Blood II: The Chosen is released on a supplemental disc with Issue #49 of Next Generation Magazine.
- January 8: work on The Nightmare Levels was first announced by The Adrenaline Vault.
- January 19: last preserved version of the LithTimes website on the Wayback Machine; with a new post from the previous day suggesting it was still active.
- January - April: Tom Bramwell (Mugwum) creates the largely fictional humorous fan made Bloody Interviews.
- February 28: the fan add-on Killing Time for Blood is released by Marc "Elmo" Levesque.
- April: James Wilson III, designer of Blood II, leaves Monolith.
- April 1: The Crypt Fan Fiction Contest is hosted, inspiring Bloodites to create numerous fan fiction pieces. Blood Lands is picked as the winner with Caleb and the Beanstalk as the runner up. The contest also inspires many others to write more pieces of fan fiction up to the present day.
- A similar contest was held for Blood fan art, the winner of which was Evil Eyes Caleb by Magna-Man with 15 total points; it depicts Caleb. The runner up picture was the comic Bad Day by Björn Wehrhan which is a two page comic strip. There where twenty one total pictures submitted by twelve people. Many more wandering pieces of fan art were hosted by Planet Blood after the contest and many more pieces have been made and hosted on other sites since.
- April 20: Monolith releases the game source code for Blood II, leading to a proliferation of tweak mods.
- Development begins on the DarkAct mod for Blood II by Andy "Guzz" Guillaume.
- Bernie's Silly Mod, an abstract gameplay mod for Blood II, is later released.
- June 2: last known news post from the Lithology website, announcing its then relaunch.
- June 20: CuRe released a map called "Burger Queen", the only available portion of a fan add-on project for Blood entitled Tiny Town.
- July: producer Matt Saettler departs from Monolith, signalling the end of their publishing efforts.
- July 19: first posted correspondence pertaining to the Blood Source Campaign and its mission to get the source code to Blood released.
- August 1: The Nightmare Levels expansion pack for Blood II: The Chosen is released by Monolith Productions and GT Interactive.
- This was the last official new Blood release (exempting Fresh Supply in 2019) following the cancellation of Blood II: Revelations.
- August 24: Monolith announces the commencement of a publishing deal with Fox Interactive, finalizing their divorce from Blood rights-holder GT Interactive.
- August 29: Tren of FX Enhancer retires from Blood II modding.
- September 17: the last recorded edit to the Time Episode fan add-on for Blood by Pyro.
- October: As a Halloween special, Rust/MightyTwinkie creates the fan comic Tales of Blood: Everyday Life.
- November 5: all that was ever released of Mandatory Suicide, a mod for Blood II, was released.
- November 23: last edit to Inherit the Earth by Dustin "Bloatoid" Twilley, later creator of Death Wish.
- Björn Wehrhan creates the fan comic Caleb versus Lobo.
- The Plasma Pak is put on the German index of censored games, making it illegal to advertise or sell to minors. However, unlike most games put on the index, it was not confiscated, meaning it was legal to sell to an adult. However, the lack of advertising prompted its disappearance from shelves.

- Most of the fan art The Chosen Wallpapers by Rust are created, with one exception being created in early 2001.
- Mike Dussault takes up employment at Valve Corporation.
- February 16: the last news post is uploaded to The Blood Shack.
- March 18: last news update released from the Gods 2 add-on project for Blood II; sequel to Gods, the Epic Trilogy.
- June 22: Ken Silverman releases the source code to the Build engine.
- The ReBUILD project begins in August to better utilize the newly released Build code in Blood related projects.
- July 18: Lis published the short story End to Blood.
- July 25: Lis published the short story Ophelia.
- August 8: the obscure fan fiction piece Blood: Ship of Fools was featured on the Planet Blood main page.
- October 30: Winston Branyon publishes part one of his story Dinner with the Preacher as a Halloween treat.
- December 31: only release of the Blood II mod The Festival of Blood is put out onto Planet Blood.
2001[edit]
- January 2: a Doom engine skin for Caleb was released converted for use in ZDoom or Skulltag.
- February 19: the second and final part of the well-regarded story Dinner with the Preacher is released by Winston Branyon.
- May 6: a poem and accompanying image is released about QBlood by by Sandbag.
- May 9: last accessible news post from Planet Blood available from the Wayback Machine; March 28, 2002 entry has no news section.
- June: the fan add-on Hostile Takeover is completed by Dustin "Bloatoid" Twilley.
- July 27: Aaron Sanchez released the last update to his story Caleb Vs. Sailor Moon.
- This was also the date of the last update to More Blood in the Arena Eternal by Kain-Xavier.
- July 27-December 1: Eric J. Juneau published the bulk of his individual fan fiction pieces on Planet Blood.
- September 4: Last edit to the first part of Legends of the Iconoclast by Dwayne Anderson, entitled "The Cabal War".
- September 9: Andrew "Slink" Wrobel published his poem and artwork titled "Guy in a Trenchcoat".
- November: the Blood Source Campaign officially ends, beginning after a Feburary change in leadership. Blood remains closed source, though Build is released by its author Ken Silverman. Duke Nukem 3D and Shadow Warrior have their code released by 3D Realms in 2003 and 2005. Source code from the Blood Alpha floats around the Internet, later being used as a reference for the BloodGDX port released in 2017.
- More immediately, the fan ran QBlood project was founded in March 2001 to recreate Blood on the more advanced, true 3D, and free software Quake engine (it is now using the DarkPlaces fork). The project was started largely by members of the Blood Source Campaign. Later trademark concerns lead to it being renamed to Transfusion.
- Rust creates another fan comic Tales of Blood: The Hunt, which was set to be continued but never was.
- Glidos is released to offer a more stable but legally dodgy method for running Blood using the Glide API.
2002[edit]
- January 2: [GT]Sylacs released a player model based on Caleb for the game King: Life of Crime; a further pack based on a Quake II model was released in August 2004.
- January 31: the DOSBox emulator is first released, allowing the Blood executable to be ran on newer systems.
- February 11: a beta of the cancelled BloodLines fan add-on for Blood is released by Necrosoft.
- April 12: Dead Reckoning, then the longest piece of Blood-related fan fiction, is completed by Eric J. Juneau (Komkat/The Wallflower).
- June 27: last file edit for The Realm of Circe by Dwayne Anderson.
- June 30: The Postmortem first comes online.
- July 31: Last edit to the second part of Legends of the Iconoclast by Dwayne Anderson, entitled "The Return".
- October 19: the domain for DeathMask is first registered by William "Willis" Weilep.
- December 1: Aaron Sanchez publishes "Genesis", the only ever released part of his story The Lotus File.
- Development ceases on DarkAct mod for Blood II by Andy "Guzz" Guillaume.
- Brain Goble and fellow Monolith founders Garrett Price and Bryan Bouwman leave the company to work on smaller-key casual games under the name HipSoft.
- Daniel Bernstein, musician and creator of the Cultist Language, also leaves to make casual games for his new company Sandlot Games.
- The Polish Blood Centre is founded; incidentally a separate Polish Shogo Centre was also founded that year.
- TOKYOPOP begins to publish the Blood inspired manwha Priest in English.
2003[edit]
- Sunstorm Interactive, designer of Cryptic Passage, goes out of business following the release of their Build-related game Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project.
- January: Soon after releasing the first version of Transfusion, the project team begins Transfusion II: Caleb's Awakening with the hope of creating a single-player Blood clone on the Quake II engine. The project falters, mostly due to a lack of coders. Instead work begins on adding a single-player mode to the original Transfusion, which likewise has yet to see completion.
- July 28: last file edit for Tchernobog in Time by Dwayne Anderson.
- November 3: a Wolfenstein 3D modification called Halls of Stonehenge is released, featuring heavy amounts of Blood game assets.
2004[edit]
- Ten years since the Build engine was first finished.
- Blood 3: Reborn, a project by Arch Game Studios, is shut-down by Monolith Productions.
- Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment acquires Monolith Productions seven months after Jason Hall became the ventures' inaugural senior vice president.
- March 23: Last edit to the third part of Legends of the Iconoclast by Dwayne Anderson, entitled "The Trials of Destiny".
- March 28: the forum portion of The Postmortem is first launched.
- June 4: the first Q3 BloodBath pack is released by Tomasz "Predator" Mizerski.
- Two more were later created with the assistance of FluSyndrome and Joe Volante, with pack three released on November 1.
- June 11: the Russian Blood Community first comes online.
- August 16: the Transfusion Forums are first launched.
- September 24: Frater Diatonica Dracona releases volume one of Blood Chronicles, containing thirty six previously loose Blood maps making up four episodes.
- October 31: two fan fiction pieces are written by DustyStyx and RedFanatic for Halloween 2004.
- November 8: an additional Halloween fan fiction piece is written by Noy jitat.
- December 21: the Wikipedia article for Blood is started by Wikster E.

- April 15: the Blood fan site Crudux Cruo is first announced.
- July 14: the Wikipedia article for Blood II: The Chosen is started by Berserker79.
- July 15: KanaScot releases the fan fiction Duelling on the Edge on deviantART.
- December 23: the fan add-on The Sect War for Blood is released by LifeKILLED.
- December 25: the fan add-on The Outpost Mortem for Blood is released by Final22software.
- The total conversion Eternal Damnation for Postal 2 is released with at least one weapon (likely the Aerosol Can) stated to be inspired by Blood.
- The first files of the Blood Music Project are created by Mark McWane, with many more to come.

- January 24: The first version of the fan made game Blood TC for the Doom engine is released by J. S. Graham (Psyren).
- January 4: the first release of The Carnage Continues is put out by Harry.
- March 10: the "Caleb Quake III Model" is released by Philip Stavitsky.
- March 24: The second and last version of Blood TC is released.
- May 25: the Undead Poets Society convenes on The Postmortem forums.
- July 24: Requiem posts his Blood Emoticons on The Postmortem forums.
- July: The fan made Transfusion Wallpapers are created by Dimebog, Hellen, Slink, and Willis.
- November 6: date of actual completion for the Duke versus Caleb stop motion video series.
- October 30: The fan made Flash game The Flesh Game is first uploaded to Newgrounds by Tamás Tóth (Squall85).
- December 24: Zik announces his mini add-on Kill Bill on the Russian Blood Community forums.
- December 27: Zik first announces his add-on Sectant.
- Based on Blood TC, ZBlood is released for the Doom derivative ZDoom engine.
- Work begins on the sprawling Blood add-on project Alone in the Dark.

- Blood, Cryptic Passage, and the Plasma Pak turn ten years old.
- The latest released volume of the Blood inspired manwha Priest is published by TOKYOPOP.
- January 1: an updated version of The Carnage Continues is released.
- January 7: Zik announces his mini add-on Virus X.
- February 5: what would become Bloody Pulp Fiction is first publicly announced under the working title of "CollaberAddon" by RedFanatic.
- May 4: version 1.0.5 (Beta 2) of Transfusion is released; still the latest finished build.
- October 5: all three "Stick Figure Animations" featuring Caleb are uploaded to YouTube by Callum "UKcallum" Sanderson.
- October: "Till Death Do Us Part", the first and only episode of the Blood fan add-on Rage Against the Machine is released to the public.
- October 14: the first comic of the Dr. Caleb series is posted.
- October 31: after years of prototyping, work formally begins on Blood II: Resurrection by Kurt Fhur.
- November 20: The fan modification Blood 2K5 is released by Joe Volante.

- The Monolith Forums briefly operated as a replacement to older individual forums for the earlier Monolith Productions games.
- January 12: the Blood Wiki is founded and launched and initial writing ensues.
- February 1: the final released version of ZBlood is made available by Joseph "Doorhenge" Otey.
- February: the Blood Music Rearrangement for Orchestra project is completed.
- March 21: the fan made Screenshot Wallpapers are released by Mikq2.
- March: the Crudux Cruo fan site stops functioning.
- March 22 BloodCM is announced on the 3D Realms Forums by Alexander "M210" Makarov under its original "Blood TC" title; work began on January 14th.
- Spring: Tome of Blood, the largest collection of Blood fan fiction yet written is completed by Hamish Wilson, with assistance from his brothers. He also releases two pieces of fan art as story illustrations, as well as an ASCII Caleb fan art piece. More Tome of Blood stories are written later.
- May 23: Matthew “Daedalus” Kallis essentially kills off Rage Against the Machine after finding a lack of time to continue mapping.
- June 23: Matthew “Daedalus” Kallis announces the commencement of work on the eventually cancelled Cradle to Grave total conversion for EDuke32.
- July 10: all three parts of Duke versus Caleb are uploaded to YouTube by Darkone1349.
- July 24: the Blood Wiki firsts host the new series of Bloodite Interviews by Hamish Wilson, starting with Eric J. Juneau.
- August: seeming point of assemblage for the Bludmaps compilation.
- August 5: Tamás Tóth announces he has begun work on a new version of The Flesh Game fan game as a platform shooter.
- August 13: Corbin begins work on the video game HYPERTENSION for the Doom-based EDGE engine - TDGMods becomes established.
- September 16: Eric J. Juneau releases Blood 2: The Unforgiven, by far the longest Blood fan fiction piece ever written.
- October 31: Blood II: The Chosen turns ten years old, as around the same time did the original LithTech engine.
- November 19: the Blood Wiki begins to host fan art. The Blood Wiki staff begin to upload art from various Blood fan websites.
- December: work begins on what eventually becomes French Meat.

- January 6: an alternate ending and deleted scenes video for Duke versus Caleb are uploaded to YouTube.
- January 9: "Jarlaxle's Collection" of Blood custom maps is released.
- January 12: the Blood Wiki turns one years old.
- January 23: a Blood modification for GNOME Robots 2 is released by User:Gideon.
- Feburary 1: Jarlaxle released his collection of custom maps for Blood.
- February 21: Demogorgon releases A Bit of Fanfic on the Transfusion Forums.
- February 24: the first news post is released concerning Blood Source, a mod based on the Source Engine.
- April 7: Hamish Wilson reviews, with lengthy analysis, version 1.0.0 of Transfusion.
- May 19: Bloody Pulp Fiction is released to the public.
- August: Blood II: The Nightmare Levels turns ten years old.
- October 22: AbyssCitadel releases the lyrics to a song tribute for Blood under the title of "A Farewell to Arms".
- November 8: Free Gamer ran an article on Hypertension and Transfusion.
- November 9: Linux Gaming News also ran an article, mentioning the previous two plus ZBlood and The Flesh Game.
- November 28: the Polish Blood Centre relaunches as a blog; eventually being brought off-line in 2011.
- November: The Postmortem comes down, with the forum being revived later, eventually joined by a new main page.
- December 7: RedFanatic releases the first story in his The End Trilogy on the Transfusion Forums.
- December 25: Hamish Wilson releases a Christmas-themed short story.

- January: Dustin "Bloatoid" Twilley beings work on his Death Wish modification for Blood.
- January 6: The second story in RedFanatic's The End Trilogy is released.
- January 12: the Blood Wiki turns two years old.
- January 18: version 3.4 of Blood Reborn is released by TOT COMICS.
- January 24: a video review of Blood is released by retro gaming/hardware YouTube channel Lazy Game Reviews.
- May 25: a Blood II: The Chosen plus The Nightmare Levels dedicated server was launched on The Gravel Pit.
- April: work was attempted again on Transfusion, the first real efforts since the project went into a slump some years before.
- April 22: One Unit: Whole Blood is put up for sale, included with the Windows version of Dosbox, by Good Old Games.
- April 29: Blood II: The Chosen alongside The Nightmare Levels are put up for sale as a digital download by Good Old Games.
- May 14: the group Blood Thirsters is founded to collect and showcase Blood fan art on deviantART.
- October 10: Juan Manuel Arroyo Alcón releases his remix song "Crudux Cruo".
- October 31 The Caleb Pumpkin is carved by Malcolm Wilson for Haloween 2010, which is also incidentally the twelfth birthday of Blood II: The Chosen.
- November: Joakim "Wrim" Widell announces that he has started work on a Blood based Online RPG called Lokemundux Cruo - The World of Blood after previously showing his experiments on the Transfusion Forums.
- December 22: luciusdxl first announces work on BloodXL, a component to run Blood via his XL Engine.
- That same day, a Blood inspired parody of the song "Still Alive" from Portal is released by Panoptic Blur under the title of "Still Undead".

- January 12: the Blood Wiki turns three years old; not commemorated until the 16th.
- January 30: a representative from Tropical Wikis gives a move offer to the Blood Wiki staff.
- February: negotiations on various terms and conditions between the Blood Wiki and Tropical Wikis ensues.
- March 6: the Blood Wiki posts up a proposal and vote for the option of moving from Wiki-Site.
- March 9: as per William Weilep's suggestion, the option of DeathMask hosting was added and polls extended from March 12.
- March 17: due to a unanimous vote, the move to DeathMask is agreed.
- March 27: reaching an appropriate stage in the move, Weilep contacts the main staff and for a week corrections and tweaks are made.
- April 3: the move to DeathMask, and the new address "http://blood-wiki.org" is completed.
- April 26: the Piga Software Wiki (now on Miraheze) reopens on Tropical Wikis; offered up instead by the same Blood Wiki staff.

- June 7: Kung Vanargand announces his intentions to make an amateur film based on the Blood universe entitled Blood: Resurrection of Evil.
- June 22: The new Blood 2 - Extra Crispy modification for Blood II is released by John "VGames" Carrizales.
- July 22: a pack of the fifty best maps on Blood.Freeminded.De tested with a special mapfinder is put out by BME/ILMHB.
- September 21: a short film based on Blood is put out by Death Film Productions.
- October 8: John "VGames" Carrizales releases a version 2.0 patch for his Blood 2 - Extra Crispy modification.
- October 16: a texture mod for Minecraft is released called BloodCraft
- October 23: the Blood Hispano website is launched in the Spanish language by Sir Seizhak.
- October 30: the second map of It's A War Out There is released.
- October 31: Bloatoid releases his Blood modification Death Wish, with a follow up bug fix release being made available the next day.
