Gideon (talk) 20:09, 8 December 2018 (GMT): Hold on to your hats folks, but it looks like it is official. Atari has granted Night Dive Studios, who have previously mentioned interest, a license to produce a remaster of the original Blood. Releases for GOG and Steam are mentioned, but no word yet on platforms. It will be developed by Samuel "Kaiser" Villarreal with features from his Kex Engine, seemingly birthed from his earlier Blood EX work. Support for Steamworks and GOG Galaxy is mentioned. Will have to see how this develops.

Tchernobog (talk) 05:48, 14 September 2018 (UTC): While a little late to the party, with two of our administrators working hard extracting honey, and another working overtime recieving it (not to mention finding the time to haul 400 square bales of hay in a day) we have nonetheless finally gotten around to uploading our Shogo: MAD 20th anniversary banner for September.

Gideon (talk) 18:27, 23 June 2018 (UTC): Late to the party, as always, but back in March the legendary Ken Silverman released an unfinished prototype of a successor to the Build engine he worked on between 2006 to 2011 called Build2. All in conjunction with CuteFloor doing a video in detail on it. Fascinating.

Tchernobog (talk) 18:32, 28 February 2018 (UTC): Ion Maiden, a new Build engine FPS game from 3D Realms, now has a preview campaign available in Early Access with more to follow. Reminds one of old fashioned Shareware does it not? More information on the game can be found from the Ion Maiden page on 3D Realm's website as well as on GOG.com and Steam.

Tchernobog (talk) 07:16, 12 January 2018 (UTC): Well, this is the big one folks. The Blood Wiki was founded on a cold day in January ten years back from today. How fitting that the temperature is once again predicted to break -30°C here. Stay warm and make sure to celebrate our Tenth Anniversary of keeping the Blood flowing in style. We sure did.

Tchernobog (talk) 19:25, 13 July 2017 (UTC): I have been sick as a dog for the past few weeks, so any action on this had been delayed, but guest editing should now be restored.

Tchernobog (talk) 17:39, 29 June 2017 (UTC): Same drill as before; due to a sharp increase in spambot activity I have been forced to suspend guest editing for the next week or so in order to try and deter them. As always feel free to contact me if you would like to create an account.

Gideon (talk) 19:40, 19 May 2017 (UTC): Alexander "[M210]" Makarov, previously of BloodCM, has just released the first public beta (v0.75) of his actual port of the original Blood to the libGDX framework, entitled BloodGDX. This is the furthest developed reversed engineered source port of the game to ever achieve a public release. Exciting!

Tchernobog (talk) 07:13, 1 March 2017 (UTC): It was twenty years ago this month that Blood started to flow from the hands of Monolith Productions out to the public at large. To celebrate this, the Blood Wiki will be hosting animated banners on its Main Page for each significant milestone starting with the release of the Blood Shareware in March.

Tchernobog (talk) 07:20, 26 January 2017 (UTC): So as of this month BloodCM has been declared finished by its developers with v12_2016 being the final release of this ambitious EDuke32 total conversion project. Now would be a great time to give the game a try and improve its Blood Wiki article.

Tchernobog (talk) 01:57, 13 January 2017 (UTC): Another day, another corpse. Another year, another anniversary. Now, where did all those gun-toting madmen get to?

Tchernobog (talk) 06:36, 17 October 2016 (UTC): I have now restored guest editing on the Blood Wiki. Let's see how long it takes to get abused.

Tchernobog (talk) 00:47, 9 October 2016 (UTC): Due to a sharp increase in spambot activity I have been forced to suspend guest editing for the next week or so in order to try and deter them. As always feel free to contact me if you would like to create an account.

Tchernobog (talk) 05:36, 8 June 2016 (UTC): Jason Hall is once again trying to gauge interest for the idea of reviving Blood in some form, and he has been using my own words to try and make his case for it. I speak with the voice of many, apparently. To show your support you can comment on this article or interact with the following Facebook post.

Tchernobog (talk) 23:24, 22 January 2016 (UTC): After getting extremely fed up with how the old formatting did not scale well over different displays, I have now gone and completely redesigned the main page layout while doing my best to keep it consistent with the old main page's visual style.

Tchernobog (talk) 23:08, 12 January 2016 (UTC): As the Blood Wiki marks its eighth year on the internet, it is time for us to think on the better things in life, like returning guest editing. Don't let the spam bots bite!

Tchernobog 06:05, 31 October 2015 (UTC): Joe Volante is once again hosting a Halloween BloodBath server this time using the Extra Crispy modification. The IP address is 68.37.158.110 and you must have both Extra Crispy Version 5.0 and The Nightmare Levels installed. The server will be up all weekend. For more information see this forum thread on the Transfusion Forums.

Tchernobog 04:05, 3 September 2015 (UTC): Thankfully the damage was far less extensive and difficult to remove than I had first thought it would be, and barring any pages that I may have missed for whatever reason, all of our articles should now be in good working order again. The block on edits from unregistered users will remain in place for the next little while though, until I can be more alert in checking for malicious edits again.

Tchernobog 21:56, 2 September 2015 (UTC): Due to an unprecedented amount of abuse from spam bots I have been forced to block all edits from unregistered users until I have the time to deal with the problem in a more acceptable way. Due to my current work situation I may also not have the time to fix all of the damage that has already been done anytime soon, so I hope you will bear with us as we try to deal with all of the problems that have been introduced. In the meantime, if you would like to register an account in order to keep editing, please go to my user page and select "E-mail this user" to get in touch.

Tchernobog 20:55, 23 June 2015 (UTC): As part of my role as an Editor for the website GamingOnLinux I have written an article reviewing each of the Linux releases for The Big Three Build Engine Games On GOG. Included are some of my thoughts on Blood as well as further information as to how the Blood DOSBox wrapper performs on Linux.

Tchernobog 19:59, 18 May 2015 (UTC): GOG.com are now selling their version of One Unit: Whole Blood with Linux support provided through DOSBox, meaning that Linux users can now also enjoy the simplicity of an already setup and configured Blood experience. If you have not already bought the game from there, you can do so by clicking the following link.

Tchernobog 16:29, 10 March 2015 (UTC): I am little late in covering this due to it being the middle of calving season, but John "VGames" Carrizales recently released a massive new update to his Extra Crispy modification for Blood II. Those interested can find download links as well as a full change log and trailer by following this link.

Tchernobog 22:24, 12 January 2015 (UTC): Once again, the Blood Wiki marks another anniversary online. Here's to the next seven years!

Tchernobog 18:22, 10 January 2015 (UTC): PikaCommando has convinced Peter Hopkins, formerly of Tequila Software, to release what he has of the once attempted Blood II: Revelations expansion pack for Blood II: The Chosen. This includes a wealth of new material, including two new music tracks and five new recorded Caleb lines. Those interested can find out more from this forum thread.

Tchernobog 19:26, 29 December 2014 (UTC): The final installment of Scroll, a story I originally began in the summer of 2008 as a kind of retelling of the story behind Cryptic Passage in an attempt to bring it further in line with the main Blood canon, has now been released. This ends the episodic fiction's forty three week long run that started on March 9th.

Tchernobog 20:01, 31 October 2014 (UTC): After the success of last years Halloween BloodBath Joe Volante is once again hosting a Blood II: The Chosen multiplayer server for the next three days. Players can connect using the IP address 75.38.210.17 assuming they have vanilla Blood II with The Nightmare Levels disabled. Joe Volante himself will be online today hopefully sometime after 11:00 PM EDT. More information can be found from this thread on the Transfusion Forums.

Gideon 07:07, 7 September 2014 (UTC): I just corrected the copyright tagging on just about every image on this wiki, as can be shown by Category:Fair Use Images. Yes, I just went over 1000 images this evening, thank you very much! So please everybody keep in mind tags like Template:Fair Use in your future uploads and spare me the future headache!

Tchernobog 01:58, 25 July 2014 (UTC): So apparently on the 14th of July both One Unit: Whole Blood and Blood II: The Chosen along with The Nightmare Levels were put up for sale on Valve Software's Steam service. Whether or not these differ at all from the releases already available from GOG.com is not known to me, but for those who actually would be interested in such an offer the games can be found here and here.

Tchernobog 17:14, 12 May 2014 (UTC): A new German independent film has recently come to my attention called FPS - First Person Shooter which stars the voice of Stephan Weyte as the protagonist. They are currently looking for distributors and premièring the film at festivals.

Tchernobog 21:46, 9 March 2014 (CDT): Some might recall that I had previously made mention as part of the Blood Wiki's sixth anniversary that I had plans to once again invest some of my time in an area of Blood fandom that I had formerly been quite involved in. To that end I present Scroll, a story I originally began in the summer of 2008 as a kind of retelling of the story behind Cryptic Passage in an attempt to bring it further in line with the main Blood canon. Designed to be published in multiple parts, I shall endeavour to release a new instalment of Scroll every Sunday from March 9th on until the story is complete.

Tchernobog 12:33, 3 March 2014 (CST): Over the weekend our host DeathMask was hit with an apparently random DoS attack. The actual service interruption would have been from about 4:30 - 8:30 PM CST on March 1st, but due to a problem with some internet backbones not having the routing properly restored afterwards the Blood Wiki staff, as well as probably several others, were unable to access the website until the morning of March 3rd. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Tchernobog 20:07, 12 January 2014 (CST): Another year goes by, and the Blood Wiki continues moving forwards just as it has ever done. A sincere happy sixth anniversary to the Blood Wiki and all of the contributors who help keep it going!

Tchernobog 19:31, 3 June 2013 (CDT): Well, that was fast. With account creation being restored for only about an hour, four new spam bot accounts were created. As such I have restored the block and the same rule stands: if an actual human being wants to get an account they can post on my talk page as a guest with their desired username and I can create one for you. Guest edits are still allowed and welcomed, as that is one right I am not willing to take away from our readers and contributors.

Tchernobog 12:10, 25 May 2013 (CDT): Due to an unprecedented amount of abuse, I have been forced to prevent the creation of new user accounts on this Wiki. This move is only temporary, and I will try to remove the block at the end of the month, at which point we will see whether or not the same level of abuse returns again. In the meantime, if an actual human being wants to get an account they can post on my talk page as a guest with their desired username and I can create one for you.

Tchernobog 18:23, 3 June 2013 (CDT): Guests should now be able to create their own user accounts on their own again. Sorry for the slight delay in restoring this, the turn of the month kind of sneaked up on me.

Gideon 23:53, 13 May 2013 (CDT): In order to further clarify the wiki's copyright situation, I have created or improved some new templates. Template:GFDL should be used for GFDL licensed works, Template:CC BY-SA for CC BY-SA licensed works (Template:Copyleft for both) and finally Template:Fair Use for anything formally copyrighted. Please use these templates in your new uploads and feel more than welcome to tag present images. If you want a new license tag for an upload, please get in touch.

Gideon 18:23, 31 January 2013 (CST): The Blood Wiki commemorates five years in operation (as of January 12, 2013), with some modest retrospection.

Tchernobog 16:10, 4 August 2012 (CDT): On August 2, 2012 Jason Hall posted on The Postmortem forums about his interest in the idea of reviving Blood in some form. He stated that he is in a position to do this and has resolved any potential legal issues. He has also stated that he wishes for all Bloodites to offer him suggestions and ideas through this forum thread. I can also personally vouch to it's legitimacy.

Tchernobog 17:34, 15 April 2012 (CDT): The first part of Dwayne Anderson's reimagining of his Legends of the Iconclast saga, Scourge of Humanity, has now been officially released. You can grab this new Blood modification from Mod DB or from Blood.Freeminded.De.

Tchernobog 23:35, 20 February 2012 (CST): After some unfortunate problems in post production, the first episode of the amateur film Blood: Resurrection of Evil has been finally released to the public. Be sure to catch both the Introduction and Caleb's Awakening on YouTube, and congratulations to both Kung Vanargand and the rest of his team for this accomplishment!

Tchernobog 21:34, 12 January 2012 (CST): On this date four years ago, the Blood Wiki was founded and initial editing began. We on the staff would like to wish the Wiki a Happy Anniversary!

Tchernobog 21:21, 24 November 2011 (CST): After a non-contentious vote (so much so that I forgot about it until now), the article for Blood III is no longer under contention and as such I have removed the notice from the article.

Tchernobog 00:06, 2 November 2011 (CDT): The article for Blood III, which describes the prospects of a new cannon Blood game, has been under contention for years with no resolution. To finally resolve the matter, I have decided it should be put to a vote. The vote will run between November 1, 2011 until November 15, 2011.

Tchernobog 01:23, 1 November 2011 (CDT): Bloatoid has released his new Blood modification Death Wish, which features over thirty new levels spread out across three episodes. You can find out more information from this forum thread, as well as Bloatoid's blog, and the Death Wish page at ModDB. Also, a belated Happy Halloween to everyone!

Tchernobog 13:46, 14 July 2011 (CDT): Due to a recent rise in spambot activity, we have have updated to the latest version of MediaWiki (1.17.0) and have installed the ConfirmEdit extension which adds a math based captcha to user registration as well as to all edits that introduce a URL into an article. For the moment we are leaving it at it's default configuration, but if it is too intrusive to registered users or not effective enough, we can change it's configuration. We are sorry for the inconvenience this may cause, and are always open to new suggestions on how this whole situation can be handled.

Gideon 03:25, 7 May 2011 (CDT): Thanks to the efforts of our generous host, the Blood Wiki now has an internal FTP server to be used mainly for archiving. Files now uploaded there include the Tome of Blood, the PlanetBlood "Pic of the Day" archive (and others), my mod for GNOME Robots 2, Shogo: The Expanded Canon, works by Eric J. Juneau and Blood ASCII artwork. The offer of hosting is available to all those with Blood related content - either from us or from DeathMask proper (well, if you are as lucky as we are!).

Tchernobog 13:59, 9 April 2011 (CDT): Just as a friendly shout out, Tux Games is having a massive sale from now until midnight at the end of 14th April. So if you have ever considered getting the Linux version of Shogo: Mobile Armour Division, now would be a good time to get yourself a copy. For Windows users, Good Old Games is of course still selling Blood, Blood II, and Shogo as a digital download for the low price of $5.99 USD.

Tchernobog 21:07, 3 April 2011 (CDT): The move to the new host should now be complete. It is highly recommended that you read over this status report that describes the current state of the Wiki, any remaining problems that might have to be overcome, and where we might go from here.

Tchernobog 20:30, 28 March 2011 (IST): As we are in the process of changing hosts, please refrain from making any edits to the Blood Wiki at this time. We will most likely announce the new website at the end of the week.

Tchernobog 20:20, 17 March 2011 (IST): The vote on whether or not we should change hosts passed unanimously in favour of DeathMask. If you desire, you can still see the results from the Vote Archives article. We shall now continue to be in discussions with William Weilep on how to best proceed with the move.

Tchernobog 21:32, 9 March 2011 (IST): William "Willis" Weilep of DeathMask has given us his own offer of hosting, and you can now vote on this as well as the previous offer from Tropical Wikis. You can read the full proposal in full from here, and the polls have been extend until March 16, 2011. If you have already voted, you can still choose to change your vote at any time while the polls are open.

Tchernobog 03:06, 6 March 2011 (IST): The Blood Wiki has been invited to switch hosts to Tropical Wikis. You can determine whether or not we decide to go through with the move. Read the move proposal and be sure to vote on it. The polls are open from now until March 12, 2011.

Tchernobog 10:25, 27 February 2011 (IST): Just did a massive Spam clean up after having left it for about three weeks. If you encounter Spam, please, do not hesitate to remove it! Any help on this matter would be most appreciated!

Gideon 14:06, 16 January 2011 (IST): The Blood Wiki finally recognizes its third anniversary which occurred on January 12, 2011.

Tchernobog 22:34, 4 December 2010 (IST): After some unexpected downtime, the Transfusion website has risen from the grave. William "Willis" Weilep of DeathMask fame has also put some work into giving the Transfusion Forums some much needed updates which should hopefully help curb some of the recent spambot problems. More information can be found in this thread.

Tchernobog 20:48, 8 November 2010 (IST): Wrim has announced that he has started work on a Blood based Online RPG called Lokemundux Cruo - The World of Blood after previously showing his experiments on the Transfusion Forums. Here at The Blood Wiki we wish him the best of luck in his endeavour.

Tchernobog 21:05, 31 October 2010 (IST): As of today it has now been twelve years since the release of Blood II: The Chosen. The original Blood turned thirteen last June.

Tchernobog 21:10, 29 April 2010 (IDT): Blood II: The Chosen and The Nightmare Levels are now available from Good Old Games following the release of One Unit: Whole Blood last Thursday. For more information see this thread or buy it from GOG. And for those who are interested, Shogo: Mobile Armour Division for Windows is also available from GOG.

Tchernobog 23:10, 22 April 2010 (IDT): One Unit: Whole Blood is now available for purchase from Good Old Games as a digital download. Packaged with Dosbox, this should allow it to run on most modern Windows computers. Other platforms unfortunately are not supported directly. For more information see this thread or buy it from GOG.

Gideon 01:12, 18 April 2010 (IDT): Work has begun again on Transfusion. Take a look at what's going on and what you can do to help!

Tchernobog 21:37, 17 February 2010 (IST): A NOTE TO ALL USERS: Please disable the rich text editor, as it is buggy and has screwed up the formatting on several articles. We have been asking Wiki-site to turn it off since January '08, but have not been succseful. You can turn it off yourselves by going to your user preferences, selecting the "Misc" tab, and un-selecting the rich editor options. Thank you.

Gideon 01:28, 27 November 2011 (CST): Taking advantage of an unlimited bandwidth promo from our ISP, I took the liberty of doing another Blood crawl on YouTube. Mostly I did not add anything new to the main article, but decentralized it and added numerous videos to their own relevant topic articles (fan games, mods, etc). If only our ISP had mentioned this offer back in May when it began and not November 11th... Also, expect some new Shogo video listings soon as well.
